International viewers were captivated by All We Imagine As Light, the first Indian film to compete in the Cannes 2024 competition in thirty years, when it had its world debut. The film received one of the longest standing ovations of this year's film festival, lasting eight minutes, after its premiere.

 

The film scripted history at the festival and puts Payal in the running for the coveted Palme d'Or. According to a media source, Payal is the first Indian woman director to have a film screened at Cannes, and the film is also the country's first entry in the competition in thirty years.
