Will Shahid Kapoor Reignite 'Udta Punjab' Fire in Sequel?

According to reports, Ekta Kapoor is working on a follow-up to the 2016 crime drama Udta Punjab, which explored Punjab's drug problem. Filmmaker Aakash Kaushik has reportedly been recruited on board to write and direct, though the project is still in its early phases, according to a media source. Shahid Kapoor is reportedly being considered for the starring role, despite the lack of formal confirmation.

 

Aakash Kaushik, who wrote Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Housefull 4, will direct Udta Punjab 2, in contrast to Abhishek Chaubey, who directed the first movie. According to reports, the sequel will examine Punjab's persistent drug problem once more rather than carrying on the same plot. Due to his other commitments, Abhishek Chaubey will not be appearing in the sequel.

 

Additionally, according to the source, Ekta Kapoor is eager to have Shahid Kapoor return for Udta Punjab 2. Discussions are still in the early stages, though, and after the script is completed, a final decision will be made. Production on the movie is anticipated to start the following year.

Ragini MMS 2, LSD 2, and Ek Villain Returns are just a few of the sequels that Ekta Kapoor has produced in the past. She is apparently working on Dream Girl 3 and a Veere Di Wedding sequel in addition to Udta Punjab 2. Although they were previously planned, The Dirty Picture 2 and A Flying Jatt 2 have not yet been produced.
