Zooey Deschanel denies claims of nepotism!
With outstanding roles in hits like Elf (2003), 500 Days of Summer (2009), and New Girl (2011–2018), actress Zooey Deschanel has made a name for herself in both television and cinema. Some believe that because her parents are in the same industry, she got her acting career. However, Zooey rejects this.
Deschanel has always been connected to Hollywood because her family was in the business, but she recently denied rumors that she was a product of nepotism in an interview with The School of Greatness podcast.
Deschanel addressed the idea of nepotism by making it clear that her father, the well-known director of photography Caleb Deschanel, who worked on critically acclaimed movies including The Passion of the Christ and The Lion King, had no direct effect over her professional prospects.
She revealed during the podcast, “It’s funny because people will be like, ‘Oh, nepotism’, I’m like, no. My dad’s a DP [director of photography]. No one’s getting jobs because their dad’s a DP. It’s definitely not.”
Nepotism is still a popular topic of conversation, therefore this statement caused debate among social media users.
