After Shaitaan's Thrills, Janki Bodiwala Teams Up with Rani Mukerji for Mardaani 3!

When Rani Mukerji took over as Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani in 2014, the YRF-produced police thriller became a huge hit. Five years later, the actress made a comeback with Mardaani 2, the film's sequel, which was once more a huge box office hit. Since then, the public has been demanding the third chapter of the Mardaani franchise, and it was previously claimed that Yash Raj Films is prepared to release the third iteration of Indian cinema's first female-driven series, which is being lead by Rani Mukerji. The Abhiraj Minawala-directed movie began production earlier this year, and the producers have revealed that it will be released during Holi in 2026.

 

According to a recent media report, Aditya Chopra has cast Janki Bodiwala in a pivotal role in Mardaani 3. “After winning over the audience with Shaitaan, Janki has bagged a very important role in Mardaani 3. Adi Chopra, and Rani Mukerji were impressed by her performance in Shaitaan, and have cast her to play an important part in Mardaani 3. She will be seen as a cop in the film. She has already started shooting for the film in Mumbai,” disclosed a source close to the development.

 

The insider went on to say that Mardaani's third chapter is the most intense and, as usual, tackles a pressing social issue. “The entire team at YRF is very responsible in taking the Mardaani franchise forward. They want to better the audience experience with every film of this much-loved franchise. The team have ensured that the script is solid, and written keeping the present sensibilities of cinema-going audience in mind,” the source further revealed.

 

Regarding Janki Bodiwala, the actress has been active in the Gujarati film industry despite making her Hindi film debut with Shaitaan. In contrast, Yash Raj Films is preparing to release four feature films on the big screen in the upcoming year. Saiyara will open on July 18, followed by War 2 on August 14, Alpha on December 25, and Mardaani 3 on February 27. YRF is also working on tentpole action movies like Pathaan 2 and Dhoom 4.
